For about a year I’ve been interested in how Philosophy fits in with Photography. I wondered what prominent thinkers thought of photography – and was sad to discover that the beautifully interesting and complex behaviour was so limited in philosophical coverage. There are books, but very few, and even few resources that are immediately recent.
Whilst photography blooms alongside our current digital expansion, the morality and epistemology endeavours seem to be lacking . Anything associated to photography exists in reference at best and that which is specific to photography is subject to the things represented by the photograph being discussed. I’m yet to find ‘the’ book on photography and philosophy. This podcast introduces my thoughts and findings on the paradox of photography and present some ideas I’ve gathered through exploring different philosophies.
